4. I learned more about linkbuilding... I did not know about the anchor text thing before the shopautodotca seocontest, really I new nothing about SEO. I knew how to build links, but I did not know anchor text mattered. O_O....
5. Not all search engines are created equal.

Increasingly people are turning to the internet to sell their used items, whether large or small, and webmasters are cashing in on that fact by offering them a place to sell their used goods (ie. used cars like the sponsors of the shopautodotca seocontest).

But what is the viability of this type of business? I know there is a lot of money to be made online (ie. shopautodotca seocontest has prize money), but does the world need another used car classifieds site like the sponsors of the shopautodotca seocontest?

First off for my shopautodotca seocontest post research, I checked Google Trends to see what people were search for. Used cars is a much more important search string than used car classifieds. So for the purposes of this shopautodotca seocontest post, I am going to forget the keywords used car classifieds exist because their reach is unimportant compared to used cars.

Doing a search for used cars in Google, I see that there are many providers of this type of service. The top result may be familiar to some of you ;-) (before shopautodotca seocontest there was carcasherdotcom seocontest). I checked out the top few sites and they were all pretty nice, and they all had many listings on their sites. And I am sure that the top sites for this search string have no problem getting people/dealers to find their site and post their listings.

While looking through the ShopAuto.ca site the sponsors of the shopautodotca seocontest, I got the feeling that there was something different about this site, something that set them apart from other used car classifieds sites. Since they are the sponsors of the shopautodotca seocontest, I am trying to focus on the viability of this particular site.

What I noticed, and I may be wrong, is that when reading the dealer listings is that it seemed like a site built by people, you know it did not sound "cold" like many sites these days (I don't like it). So I thought: maybe ShopAuto.ca actually approaches used car businesses and deals with them directly, not just with website. This would certainly give them an edge when many just build the site and wait for traffic to find them, without realizing that some people don't use the internet but could avail from the user traffic that it provides.

So that's all I wanted to ponder on my shopautodotca seocontest blog for now. I had a little nap after work, and now it's late and I cannot get back to sleep. So I will fiddle around with the shopautodotca seocontest blog to get ready for the final days... the suspense is killing me. ;-)

I love that you guys are calling me "the Blogger", it makes me giggle. But it's true! What is funny is that I have tried to start blogs before the shopautodotca seocontest, and I never wrote more than a few posts. I wonder why I started blogging and loving it in the shopautodotca seocontest?

I have a theory: Blogging is an acquired taste perhaps, something that you might not enjoy near as much when you first try it, but once you start doing it frequently, like I did in shopautodotca seocontest, then you just "acquire a taste" for blogging.

How did I start blogging for the shopautodotca seocontest? Initially, I did not have a blog for the seocontest, I had only the main shopautodotca seocontest website. But I needed way to create a lot of content fast to win the seocontest. I did not want to have to create each page. And even if I did break down and use design mode (ugh) it would still take a lot of my shopautodotca seocontest time from trying to get more links to my site.

As I have never participated in an seocontest before, I am not sure how people will give last minute boost to their sites. When I entered the shopautodotca seocontest, there were a few London SEO companies (or rather web development companies) that had sites for the shopautodotca seocontest. Where are those sites now? Why are London Ontario SEO companies doing so badly in the shopautodotca seocontest? I really don't know. Well I know WHY they are doing so badly. There are virtually no links to their site with anchor text shopautodotca seocontest, and their shopautodotca seocontest sites have never been updated.

What I don't get is why they could not do better in the shopautodotca seocontest? If their clients pay them to do their SEO, what are they doing exactly to earn that money? I know they probably think: we are to busy to work on the shopautodotca seocontest, but did they think it would happen with a wish and a dream? I expected them to have places to put links, you know make use of company resources to rank high in the shopautodotca seocontest because that would make them look good to win this seocontest, especially since the contest is based in London.

I am just a little shocked I guess, because passing them in the ranks was not near as challenging as passing Jeremy, a young man who lives in the area and whose site was in #1 for much of the beginning of the shopautodotca seocontest.

Why am I in #1 for shopautodotca seocontest? I have a few seocontest theories, most of which are pure nonsense (ie. Google likes pink :-P). But, actually, if I was the Googlebot I would put my site in #1 for shopautodotca seocontest as well.

I know my shopautodotca seocontest site may not have as many links as the other seocontest sites (though I really do have quite a few now, but there are 84,000 results in Google for shopautodotca seocontest and the fraction of those that I am responsible for is very very very small), and I know that my domain is not as old as other shopautodotca seocontest sites, but maybe Googlebot can tell if you care about your shopautodotca seocontest site. Maybe Googlebot says: hey, you come to your shopautodotca seocontest every day, sometimes a few times a day even, and that's cool and we dig that. I hope I don't sound cocky though, because I am well aware that my shopautodotca seocontest site may, and likely will drop in the SERPs.

I think of SEO as an argument you get into with the search engines, so I might make make my argument that my shopautodotca seocontest site should be #1, and it might be a good argument, and the search engines might keep my shopautodotca seocontest site in #1 for a while, but if I don't have the "facts" to back up my seocontest argument, then it is only matter of time before the search engines find me out.

I know that the two top contestants are better at SEO than me, I am fully aware of that fact. They know many approaches and techniques that I do not know or am still learning about, but my shopautodotca seocontest site is frequently updated and every page almost is about shopautodotca seocontest. And there are lots and lots of pages for my shopautodotca seocontest site, which Google also likes. It is much easier to stay high in the ranks if you have many pages of shopautodotca seocontest content, I know that much. I knew this coming into the seocontest, and I also knew that the shopautodotca seocontest would have lots of people who knew more about SEO than me. Not to diminish my ability to do SEO. I am, after all in #1 right now for the time being, but at the same time I do not have near what others in the shopautodota seocontest, not to mention I did not have a single website when I started the shopautodotca seocontest other than the MSN spaces one I used for the flower store and a link on the flower store site to get my shopautodotca seocontest site crawled for the first time.

And so I had to work in the seocontest with what skills I have... and my speed-typing and my ability to spout off about just about anything are some of the skills I have been employing in the shopautodotca seocontest. Oh, you mean you have not noticed... ;-) I was regular, I was frequent, and Google and I have a daily schedule now... my pages are indexed quickly and are cached often which has been an asset in my opinion (though at the same time less than adviseable changes in site structure/keywords is also recognized as quickly.)

I truly believe content is key. Without content there is only so much that SEO can do for your site. I know that this is likely (though hopefully not ;-P) temporary shopautodotca seocontest rank in Google, but the fact that my site is in #1 now, and the fact that it stayed in the top #3 for quite a while I believe is a testament to that fact.

This, at the same time, does not diminish the importance of offsite SEO in the form of links in the shopautodotca seocontest, as this is clearly important, which I am sure we will soon see when my site drops again. But, for the time being at least, content is key.

Many contestants seem to agree, and regularly update their sites, posting new posts or information about the contest on their sites regularly. But the shopautodotca seocontest sites run by the SEO companies in this city, well they just seemed to put up their sites and wish upon a star that if they linked to it from their site it would rise to the top...? It interested me to find out the viability of seocontests for SEO. Things pretty much were the same for the entirety of my participation of the shopautodotca seocontest. This can cause your site to be devalued in the search engines and in some cases it appears that they can steal your PR. Apparently in 2005 Google corrected this problem, but I read mixed reviews as to whether this is the case.

Well I submitted it to a directory called Canuckster, and while it is in the directory, they also have my site in a frames page on another domain too. So it is my fault for putting it in this directory. You would have to visit the link to see. But keep in mind, when you cut and paste this web address in the browser, what will happen will happen quickly because I put a java script at the top of my page to get rid of this problem... Well, you will see.

See, it goes from canuckster.com to buy4cheap.biz... but then it goes to my site domain. Before I put the java script on my site, it would just stay at the buy4cheap.biz site and they have these weird floating ads then ads at the top of the page.

2. Try to make it interesting. I don't know if my blog is interesting yet but I am sure when the shopautodotca seocontest keywords disappear, then it will be a lot better anyways. If I had known more about cars, I would likely have made my shopautodotca seocontest blog about cars, but the only thing I know about autos is this: VROOM! VROOM! The globalwarming seocontest would have been easy because you could discuss globalwarming. If they have a world SEO championship I hope it is about another social/political/environmental/economic issue that would make the blogging interesting.
3. Be aware that you cannot slack off - you cannot stop posting for a while. Google watches this, you know and gets mad if you just stop for a while, and Google loves when you keep it up too. I have been posting constantly throughout the shopautodotca seocontest. You must regularly post new seocontest blog posts.
4. Don't do like me - use WordPress for your seocontest blog. For supplementary blogs, get one from each blog provider. But for the your main seocontest blog, use WordPress for sure.

I don't know if it has been done before, but I don't need to innovate necessarily I just want to build this computer purse. I have seen them built into briefcases, but not into a super stylish purse. I was thinking black leather because that will go with everything, and it needs to be of a certain size, and it needs to have a certain way of opening and closing to allow me to do what I want. I imagine it will have a fairly small screen as well. It does not have to be a "hard purse" because I can add any reinforcements, protection when I build. I was going to use laptop parts, but my father (he is a computer-guy for a living) says to go ahead and use just components from a PC. I don't want any internal disk drives, just USB. And for sure wireless modem. My father, the computer-guy shakes his head when I tell him. Silly girl he thinks to himself. He's probably right.

So I said I was in the London Ontario Corporate Challenge today and it was super fun! Corporations from around the city have teams and it is pretty much track and field and activities for adults (adults who have been drinking beer, no less). The day had a "spy" theme, and all the games were James Bond themed games. Fun times, and I think our company was well-represented. It was good for me as well, because I only recently started working there and I got to know people that I worked with in a more social environment.

Someone asked me today if I would cry if I did not take a single prize in the shopautodotca seocontest...? Why would I cry? I know 100% more about SEO than I did before the seocontest.
